Construction Difference's in Top Mounts.
How much difference is there between the construction of a standard MY00 top mount compared to the P1/Sti version ?
Most people seem to go straight through to fitting a FMIC when upgrading the turbo but essentially will e.g. the VF28 perform quite happily on the standard set up for normal road use ? Looking at the older models running TD05's etc the top mount looks quite small in comparison to the later model classics.
Cheers

IMHO it's not worth changing to a pre STiV7(?) IC from anything but an 'early' classic. An hybrid/Autobahn88 FMIC will not cost you more than most TMICs and will, guaranteed, give you better charge air cooling, and so, most likely, higher output from your engine. But it will also increase lag (according to a mapper i Sweden they have noticed boost comes approx. 400 rpms later on FMICed cars).
IIRC the STi MY00 IC are suppossed to have a slightly densed core and 'slicker' hose/pipe, so a slightly better cooling to no more pressure drop, compared to WRX MY00.

Thanks for the reply, everyone seems to automatically upgrade the top mount I'm just looking into if this is essential to do or not... I don't seem to find much info relating to the subject about the place.
