The Best Of Both Worlds?
I have a UK 98 turbo classic , currently standard. I was wondering if I could get a little of the best of both worlds.
I want more power and more mpg (there always one isn't there...)
I believe that this is possible, my ideas so far are:

I believe that this is possible, my ideas so far are:
o Full exhaust with sports cat and few other minor mods and a remap, will give more power, and should give a leaner (but still safe) AFR hence more MPG etc (except when booting it...)
o As above but also skim the heads to increase the compression ratio, this should give more mpg also should give better low rpm response and power, but will cause detonation which may be prevented either by running with 10% methanol or by running a water injection system.
My questions are (assuming a normal AFR) on a turbo car running 98 ron: o As above but also skim the heads to increase the compression ratio, this should give more mpg also should give better low rpm response and power, but will cause detonation which may be prevented either by running with 10% methanol or by running a water injection system.
o What level of compression ratio can be successfully run with just a remap?
o What level of compression ratio can be successfully run with 10% methanol and a remap?
o What level of compression ratio can be successfully run with water injection and a remap?
o Can water injection be made reliable enough? Or successfully monitored so when it fails the engine managment is triggered into limp home mode? (e.g. if nozzel blocks, the pump fails, or the water runs out...)
