Wondered if anybody can shed light on this?
Thursday last week, satrted the car as normal, put foot on clutch and heard a loud ticking/tapping noise. when I lift off the clutch it stops. This carries on until the engine has warmed up and then seems to stop.
Any ideas why this may be happening?

could be cold injectors working hard whle the car warms up.
May be piston slap also though.
as long as it is going away after 5 mins or so of the car started then i wouldnt worry about it.
My newage car does the same and the evo tat i owned previously was even worse for it.

 

Just seemed a bit strange to me that it goes away when i press the clutch. The car is a 94wrx, had a new Helix clutch fitted april 2002 and now has a 6 speed box.
