Default engine problem

have recently bought an impreza classic, when im accelerating hard at around 3500 to 4500 revs the engine seems to cut out momentarily, but if I accelerate gently it will go through and keep going could anyone help identifying the problem?

I had this problem many years ago....but cant remember why...though if you post in the Techinical Section i am sure someone will reply back fairly quickly...

From the botton of the page where it says Forum Jump, select General techinical then go...and post in there...

Fuel cut? If you are runnng boost close to the limit then a drop in ambient temp can push it over the edge leading to fuel cut.

Overfilled oil or dirty inlet tract>>>Oil in boost solenoid>>>Incorrect boost control>>>Overboost condition when you put your foot down>>>Fuel cut>>>'Hitting brick wall' effect which can be driven through if you take it gently.

Solution: clean your boost solenoid out with carb cleaner.
