My day with Mr Rawle!
Just a quick one for you all. I am sure many of you are more familiar than myself with Bob R. I just want to say what a top guy.
I had my MY99 remapped yesterday, the process left me slightly worn out! I do enjoy some spirited driving, but trying to hold the boost on 1bar and keep an eye on your everyday road is quite a challenge. I got there in the end, you just seem to get a feeling for it.
I did a first set of 'runs' and Bob discovered that the boost was being held at 1.2 bar and could not be upped any further. He knew straight away the the restrictor must have been drilled out. I guess the first owner of the car had some sort of over boost issue.
Back to Bobs and a new Sti restrictor was fitted, incidentally the original one was massively drilled out! Then back to the open road, several 'runs' followed and Bob made all the adjustments needed. He managed this even with my some what amaturish driving efforts
We then did a few 'Power' runs and all I can say is 'Wow'!
Even with my standard up pipe the three readings were as follows-
284 bhp
292 bhp
286 bhp
300lb+ Torque
I was very impressed and I think Bob was as well!
If you are thinking of an Ecutek remap then I can strongly recommend it. The choice of mapper is yours. There are quite a few on here and as always everyone has a favourite. Personally I used Bob, recommended by so many and now recommended by me!! I will post graphs once available.
One more thing, a big 'Thank You' to Bob Rawle

No, these figures were provided by Bob on his lap top! He needed the tyre size and the weight of the passengers. On the power runs the lap top registers the power output and torque and plots a graph (I will post these as soon as they are emailed to me). It provides the power at the wheels figure and adjustments made for transmission loss etc. The outside temp was very low yesterday and I am sure this helped!

Bob uses the Delta Dyno software to plot the power graphs.
When you have used it as often as the busy mappers do, they have got it calibrated properly, and as above, once your weight, etc are inputted, it should give a very good readout of your power.
Although i aint, nor plan to, go on a rolling road to find out! LOL.
I like Bob's figures thank you very much!

Bob did my O5 STI ppp yesterday later on after a white EVO 5/6, well worth the money, Bob is a really nice genuine guy and I'm really pleased i chose him to do the work as i felt very comfortable, it was a new experience that i enjoyed my previous VAG cars have been done on the dyno
Agree with keeping at 1.0 bar thing i was a bit amatuerish as well
Will get my graphs a bit later but i think Bob said it was @ 280 atw
Glad you got a good result as well
Tony

He's a busy man, he had one before me. A guy by the name of Pete, however he had problems with a fuel pump. I make that four of us yesterday and he really wont stop until its perfect. He is off to Plymouth today! Total petrol head and as you say totally genuine. His other motors a bit special too

Just got the graphs through, cant figure out how to post them. I will keep trying! Anyway the important bits are-
281 Bhp
312 ft lbs!!!
In gear acceleration (3rd gear)
40-60 2.5 seconds
50-70 2.5 seconds
60-80 2.8 seconds
I know this is by no means the quickest impreza every. The difference from before the re map to now is unbelievable. The driveability is also improved beyond my expectations. I'm a very happy man

A graph is now added to plus profile(Take a look). I have been told the graph is quite impressive given the standard up pipe is still fitted! After a few weeks of driving, I can confirm my first thoughts, the car is transformed
