If you look at the inlet side of the turbo on the side of the turbo there's a flat surface with the model its not stamped just electric pencil it will have Vf37 at the top on the Jdm Sti or if its a spec c Vf36 they are twin scroll turbo's.

first of all, you don't have a cat in the centre section, and if it's an actual 03 car (blobeye with wide ovalish headlamps) rather than a later registered 02 car (bugeye with round headlamps), then it will have a twinscroll turbo.

hi mate view my scooby its on there it is a blobeye, but the exhaust in pic came off my car and its clearly a cat the cat bolts to my downpipe then the centre section bolts to the cat, so it cant have a twin scroll turbo can it??? what is goin on??? or does it supposed to have that cat???

hmmmm, something isn't quite right, I don't think i've ever seen a jdm with a 2 piece downpipe.

that shorter pipe in the picture (which I could only see part of on my laptop!) is usually a cat pipe, but only really found on the Euro models. the JDM cars usually have the link pipe and downpipe as one large downpipe. The longer pipe with the offset box in, is referred to as the centre section and has a silencer only in it, it appears common on UK and JDM models.

picture looking down at the turbo from above would clear up the twinscroll question.

Not sure you're going to like this but the downpipe in your piccie is definately a single scroll version - so the turbo must be single scroll.

Does it have the intercooler water spray in the boot or in the engine bay?

VF35 is from a Euro STi and isn't a twin scroll.
What I meant to say about the IC spray was where is the water bottle located - in the boot or in the engine bay?

Seen your other thread. As you've got the other goodies from a JDM car then the IC spray bottle must be in the engine bay.
So someone has either swapped all parts from the exhaust manifolds back inc turbo, or there has also been a major transplant with the engine.

Yup, the VF35 is from a UK STi.

Yup, the VF35 is from a UK STi.

I think Butty has it nailed down to the two most obvious options.

A quick install of a complete engine/Turbo package.
A planned deviation from twin scroll to single scroll (Possibly for the purpose of removing modified parts).

Its not necassarily a setback.
I have a twin scroll and think it its nicer to drive standard-to-standard, but as Steve says if you are looking to upgrade there are far more (Cheaper) options for upgrading the single scroll unit.
