That all depends on your idea of what you consider to be expensive.

The cheapest you can hope for is that you have an early import or uk car that is suffering with the most common oil leak.

They have a habit of leaking from the "O" ring between the reservoir & the pump, which in turn covers the pump in oil & leaves a puddle on top of your engine block.

If this is the case then it is easy to fix yourself.

Remove the reservoir by undoing the 3 x 10mm bolts that hold it in place & lift it off the pump, turn it over and you will find a rubber "O" ring on the base of the reservoir, buy a new one from Subaru for £1.00 and refit everthing.

The most expensive part of this job will be the £2 - £3 you will spend on the oil to refil your reservoir.

If it's the pump itself or the rack, then you will certainly be looking at a load more ££££ to have it cured.
