Default Engine cut out at 50mph

AS above, just going nice and steady around a corner and i noticed the check engine light on then the engine stalled .

managed to get it into a junction, turned ignition of then tried starting, started ok so i decided to stay there for 10 mins with engine running and everything was ok.
after that i did about 15 miles and everything is fine.

any help appreciated.

Knock sensor wouldn't cause car to cut out. Maybe you freaked out when you saw the engine light and stalled the engine (it can happen)

Also the car could have stalled before you noticed it and of course the check engine light comes on when ignition is on and engine is off. Might you have vent to atmospehere BOV?, it can cause stalling.
