Any rough idea where abouts on the engine the sound is coming from.... the injectors are known to tick quite loudly..... mine do!!

Do you get the nosie when the engine is cold as mine taps and ticks a bit when cold then when warm it's quiet as a mouse (well a scooby burble mouse lol)

But if it still ticks and taps when warm it could be the hydraulic tappets that need to be looked at as they are a common fault on classics...

Check the oil level and ensure your oil pump is working and getting the oil around the engine properly

It could be :
Hydraulic tappets ticking.
Piston Slap.
Spark plugs loose/coil packs not pushed fully on.
Up-pipe or headers blowing.
Low oil pressure causing top end wear due to Oil Pump backing plate screws coming loose.

Process of elimination really.
