Default MY98 uk turbo 2000 performance upgrade

Hi all

As title says i am looking to upgrade the performance of my pretty much standard MY98 uk turbo.
The parts i have so far are a decat centre pipe, and a decat downpipe which i am looking into getting a sports cat fitted into the downpipe, these are not actually fitted onto the car.I also have a K&N replacement element in the standard air box.I don't want to go down the route of a front mount intercooler, due to known problems of the maf.I would like to get as close to the 300bhp mark as possible.

Fit the decat pipes, and go for a remap. On your standard td04 you will see around 260-280bhp. I got 276bhp/298lbft when I did this a couple of years ago.
I also fitted a 3 port boost solenoid to help with boost control - the 2 port struggled a bit.

the intercooler helps charge temps, doesn't cure maf failures and is not huge point with standard turbo which is good for around 280bhp..

also the maf on the 98 is robust and unlikely to cause a issue.

after market ecu required to remap the 97/98 at the moment

Ahh yes, forgot to mention the intercooler. I put a New age WRX TMIC on mine at the same time as the other mods.

Make sure you have budgeted around £750 for new ecu and remap.
