FMIC Pipe Mod To Fit HKS Dump Valve, Is It A Good Idea??
How do, I've got a FMIC with a standard hard pipe kit, which has an oulet for a dump valve on the intercooler to manifold inlet pipe.
At the moment I have my HKS SSQ fitted with a bit of silcon hose, doesn't look all that special and it hides the HKS SSQ out of sight.
I've seen a Classic somewhere on SN where the owner has cut of the outlet for the dump valve, and then welded the HKS SSQ bracket striaght onto the hard pipe, inturn making the outlet twice as big.
With the outlet being twice as big will that cause any problems, or make the dump valve any louder etc....
I only ask as I wasn't sure if the outlet pipe to the dump valve had to be any particular size for it to work correctly.

If you have a Hybrid FMIC or one of the Hybrid copies it already has a spiggot to take the D.V. It is a shrt distance down stream from the throttle body and faces down towards the ground.

I want to know if I cut that off and wldd the hole up, and then weld the HKS mounting adapter in a better place with the mounting adapter flush with the pipe, so no need for silcon hose or extra bit of pipe, will that effect the way the dump valve works?
I've found where I saw it now it was in Jap Performance mag on a Silver Classic Impreza, I'll see if I can add the photos.

Well I've just had the HKS mouting plate welding in, and I'm well happen. It's totally changed the sound of the dump valve, its not so fluttery. The car seems to run smoother after dumping the boost too.
I had a chat to my local garage and it's possible I was suffering surge, before and now with the mounting plate welding in I've elminated it.
It looks cool too
