Default Rough idling problem!!

On my 97 sti when driving then come to a stop the revs start to drop till the car almost stalls then climb again to about 1100 rpm then down again, does this for about 20-30 seconds then returns to normall. Anyone have any ideas to problem? Cheers

it sounds like your idel control switch that might be on it's way out, or have you ever changed he spark plugs

Only changed the spark plugs 4 month ago and not done many miles in them. Is there a way to check the idle control valve? Forgot to mention engine is totally standard.

Hey mate, I had the opposite problem. Mine idled high... Managed to narrow it down eventually, check this link to view the idle control valve. I posted pics of mine.

hi fella. i had a similar problem on my my99 uk turbo last year. pop the idle control valve off and give it a good clean out with some brake/clutch cleaner.

jason @ scoobybits suggested this and i do it say every couple months now.

car may splutter for about 5-10 mins and refuse to start, but it definatley soled my problem, especially when cold.

id presume the same method on an sti would help, but dont take me as gospel
