Default will it be safe...

going to be fitting fmic on my98 classic,was wondering if it would be fairly safe to run a few months before mapping,still got cat on at mo and not running high boost..only engine mod will be this and ind kit.

sure it will be safe if u keep it off boost but why not just keep it to one side till u can afford to get it mapped.better to be safe than sorry

mapping for fmic you dont need it mapped for that ,

i thought it might be safe cause its not really increasing the boost pressure,only lowering charge temps...well maybe...lol

yes it is safe (mates been running his for a while now) he was getting boost cut issues though so he's been taking easy till he has to to have my old ecu fitted and the map tweeked to suit on it

It's not that simple mate. You are changing not just the charge temps but also the volume of air and the route it takes to get to where its needed. You'll also be running an induction kit. Chances are your maf will need rescaling for example. Ignition and fueling will also need altering: more air requires more fuel.

At best the car won't run optimally without the remap, at worst, you'll nip a piston and need an engine rebuild.

yes will be getting an apexi fc at end of month,maybe just wait to fit it and get other mods done all at same time...unless the wife finds out lol..

Some cars don't seem to 'like' fmic's unless they are mapped, but mines fine.
