Default DCCD on the type RA

hi, iv just bought myself a my97 type ra sti and it has the DCCD. for normal driving, what position do i keep the dccd in? and what does 'lock' mean?

somebody told me that if u constantly drive the car when the diff is in lock mode, then this can mess up the diff??

if anybody can shed light on this topic it would be most helpful

cheers

hi mate i have recently bought a dccd sti ra and still getting to grips with the dccd. u only wanna use the locked position in ice and snow and loose gravel maybe. u will notice if u put it in lock the diffs all bind up and dont like it when moving slowly. i have found keep diff in open whenever drivin normally or when u wanna have some fun driftin lol. but when pushin on i put it on first green to keep it under control a bit. when drivin like a nutter maybe move it up 1 more but u will start to notice more and more understeer the more u go toward the lock position. just play about and be careful in the wet, and when in open diff as it goes sideways pretty easy, scary at first but awsome once u know how to control it. just keep your foot in and balence on the throttle and give a bit of opposite lock and u will be driftin like a pro before long. just dont back off or u may end up going the wrong way lol. anyways hope this helps as i had exactly the same questions when i first got mine. have fun

I'm really gonna have to sit down for half hour when I get a chance and read through the DCCD guide thoroughly, had a little 'hairy' moment the other night in my type r when coming off a round about a bit to enthusiastic on fully open diff and had it sideways!
