Default apexi pfc boost control

evening everyone i was just reading through a few old threads about the pfc, i have a quick question.

i have ordered a pfc and was wondering if it had a setting so you can change the boost level using the standard boost solenoid, ie dont have to buy a boost controller to adjust the boost? any advice would be great.

i know the power fc has space for 4 different boost settings, but am not sure if you can use your standard boost controller, or need a apexi boost control kit/avcr etc

Tony,

iirc you car is a phase 1 93~96?

you can use the boost solenoid as it is a 3port but need a map sensor as the standard one maxes out at 1.23bar and apexi restricted boost to 1bar for safety.

I use the Apexi map sensor which then sorts.

if I remember wrong and it is a 98 or 99 etc then the boost solenoid needs changing on most cars to a 3port but the map sensor is fine.

so in answer to you question no you don't need a boost controller, just a map sensor or a 3port boost solenoid dependingon what year.

Simon

eBay Motors: PRODRIVE 3 PORT BOOST CONTROL SOLENOID FOR SUBARU (item 150202541021 end time Jan-11-08 20:06:52 PST)

or off one of the older classics, or a apexi one

Get one off a scrappy who doesn't know what it is. It just looks like any other sensor/gadget in the engine bay.
