Default boost cut on my 93 wrx

I have just bought a 93 wrx which was imported in oct 07
It has had various mods but nothing to my knowledge regarding upping boost etc, However it spins up to just above 1 bar very quickly then it cuts which I believe is a safety feature
Can anybody please explain why this is happening, How can I stop it and is it likely to have a boost mod that I cant see??
Many thanks jon

can you give some info on the mods done the engine please. helps to give a more clear answer.

> check the brass restrictor is still in the boost solenoid pipe

> have a quick check on your ecu, to see if its got a chip inside it

i am sure the fuel cut is at just under 1 bar boost on your car so if it is boosting higher than that you will get fuel cut, best thing to do first is to give the boost solinoid valve a good clean out with something like break cleaner as it may be sticking open.

next reset the ecu by dissconecting the battery for an hour or so.

then take it for a drive and see if its better.

standard boost pressure for your car should be around 0.8bar

I am not sure about mods except air filter and back box, am sure system is standard as it still has cover plates along exhaust but I will check other stuff, many thanks for now

yeah, no chip fitted.
he has also changed the pipes on his boost control solenoid too, maybe he has left the brass restrictor out!

Many thanks for your help on this.
Would it be best to get a replacement brass restrictor or a device which i think is called a dawes device or similar so that I can run say 1.0 bar and no more.
