NEED URGENT HELP WITH HEADS!!
IVE GOT A 2002 WRX, MY HEADS WERE DAMAGED SO BOUGHT REPLACEMENTS, THE ONES I GOT TURNED OUT TO BE STI HEADS WITH AN ACVS SOLENOID. I HAVE STRIPPED THEM AND FOUND THAT THIS ACVS CAN BE REMOVED AS ITS ONLY PART OF THE INTAKE CAM CLAMP. IF I REMOVE IT, THEN CAN I JUST PUT THE NORMAAL CAM CLAMPS IN PLACE AND RUN THE CAR WITHOUT ACVS ON STI HEADS/CAMS?? NEED URGENT HELP WITH THIS!!!

The "Cam Clamps" on Subaru heads are not usually transferable between heads I'm afraid.
They are matched items and usually marked to tell you which position they should be fitted in + have a code letter stamped on them which must match to the code stamped on the Cyl Head, you normally find that if an incorrect Clamp is fitted, it will stop the Camshaft turning.

The ACVS solenoid supplys oil to the Front Cam journal via the Cam Cap as it has no oil drilling on the Inlet side of the Cylinder Head.
Even if you manage to fit your original cam caps to the ACVS heads - you will destroy the heads within minutes due to oil starvation.
