Default closed deck block and a 2.5 crank advise please

i have a mid thrust closed deck block
omega pistons
eagle h beam rods
arp bolts
sti 5 crank
acl race bearings

its all in bits ready to build and im still tempted with a 2.5 crank

how much to have the block machined to take an end thrust.?
what ltre will it be with standard size pistons with the crank?
will the bearings i got for mid thrust still fit the end thrust?
will the rods still bolt straight to the 2.5crank?

is there anything im not thinking of and is there any point to doing this what benifit wil it get.

thanks for helping..

I'm in the same boat.

As far as I know your standard rods and pistons wont fit in the 2.0L cdb with a 2.5 crank,

You'll need to swap them for stroker rods and stroker pistons.

If you do get rods and pistons to suit you'll end up with a 2.1.

I'm looking at either sleeving the 2.0L block to 2.2 and running my 2.5 crank for a 2.33 build or sleeve it to 2.5. I'm favouring the 2.33 at the mo.

In a nutshell no. If you put the crank on the rods and pistons you have now your pistons will poke out of the end of the block by about 3-4mm. I do stand to be corrected on this but I'm pretty certain thats the case.

The 2.5 crank has a longer stroke. i.e 79mm as opposed to 75mm of the 2.0L crank.

as said you need 2.35 specific rods and pistons...

also if that is really an sti5 crank it will need block thrust changing to use it..

wwwp1woc.co.uk and look for the sign in.

costs of all parts for a 2.33 are on there as well.

I was speaking to a company in America about this not to long ago, they have had specific pistons made to use in a 2l block with 2.5 Crank and standard rods to make either a 2.15 in standard 2l bore (92mm) or 2.2 with slightly oversize pistons (93mm) still using the 2.5 crank and standard length rods.

better off with slightly longer stroker rods to take a lot of force away from the bearings
