Question EJ20 Block

Is the EJ20 block the same on both the STI and the WRX Turbo?
Could you fit STI heads to the WRX block?

Yes mate the blocks are identical. I used to have Version 5 Jap STI heads on a UK 2.0L open deck block.

Now I have the same jap sti heads on a 2.5 Semi closed deck block.

After christmas those heads will probably end up on a 2.35 closed deck block.

If the blocks are identical what makes the STI more powerful than the WRX?
Just curious cause i don't know much about these engines...

They have forged pistons so are stronger.

The extra power comes from different heads and cams and a different turbo plus some other bits and pieces.

The block cases of the 2.0L sti are the same in every way to that of the WRX.
