Unhappy Boost problems

My sister has a 260ps classic WRX and it's now producing too much boost The car is fitted with a Polar performance chip and should be running 1.1 bar of boost but on full throttle it hits 1.4 bar and hits fuel cut

Whilst driving it yesterday I was seeing 1.1 bar on part throttle and that would drop back to 0.7 bar and then back up to 1.1 bar This is without moving the throttle pedal.

What would suddenly cause it to run too much boost and fluctuate like that? The only mods to the car are:

Panel filter
Resonator removal pipe
sti 4 (I think) intercooler
de-cat downpipe
de-cat centre section
backbox

Thanks

Can never have too much boost

boost solenoid needs cleaning?
Dodgy actuator perhaps?

From website:

"The 27C1028 is the simple and most cost effective upgrade for those with standard or mild modifications to their vehicle. This solution was used by Subaru and Prodrive to add Group'N' and Prodrive Performance Packs to a Standard Road Car. The chip plugs into a spare location within the 1993 - 1996 ECU and emulates the standard ECU operation. The performance maps within this code are then modified. It unlocks greater performance with modifications made to fuel/ignition maps, boost target map, boost control map, boost limit values and speed limit values. Expected Performance increase is 30-50BHP depending on supporting modifications.

This solution does not over-ride ECU control as per some other Chip upgrades or piggy back electronic controllers. But is a complete solution and retains all the standard ECU safety fetures and self diagnosis"

looks like it should be "mapped" to suit, or am i reading wrong?

When i got mine by ESL it was made to suit cars with mild mods, filter, de-cat, things like that.

So as long as your car has such things it should be fine. Mines spot on, 1.1 bar solid with a td05. No signs of det or dodgy a/f readings . Subaru doesnt map every car it produces, they just roll them out, and thats alot of cars with slight variations!

In the ideal world it would be better to get it mapped with a pfc! But if like me you just want 290-300hp and arnt planning on changing injectors, turbos and the like, £200 for the esl map is better than paying £600-£700 for the pfc!
Mines been in for 2 years now with no ill effects apart from more power!
