Erm, don't want to be a muppet (no more than I already am)
but do the headlight washers work off the same container as the screenwash?
As mine seem to have stopped working and I have loads of screen wash.

Cheers

Cool

I think so - I've had the car 2.5 years and not had to fill a washer bottle for the headlight washers despite frequent use!

Yes they do work off the same reservoir (presuming by 'work' you mean 'spray water' rather than 'clean the crap off the headlights' )

that's what I thought.
and yes I was using the word "work" in it's broadest possible terms, cos they certainly don't clear any gunk off the lights.

Cheers I'll get Subaru to look at them when it's in tomoz for yet .another service

Does anyone know whether it is possible to fit headlight washers to my car which currently doesn't have any It's a MY99 STi.

Having read this thread, seeing as they don't seem that effective I am not sure it is worth it anyway. Am I going to end up with problems having had holes drilled through the bumper??

Kingsize,

I really wouldn't bother trying to fit them if you don't already have them. You'll have to cut holes in your bumper and they're really not effective at all.
The only reason I asked about them was cos they seem to have stopped and I wondered why.

Yes, the Saab/Volvo style ones with a little wiper are so much more effective, and don't use as much water either.

I'd definitely second the "washers are much use" comments as I find them very inneffective. Instead of fitting new washers, how about just adapting a sqeegie-mop? If you get the handle long enough you should be able to reach both lights without having to stop

SWRTWannabe,

That's the best advice I have had for a while

Can anyone advise me on where I can buy a suitable sponge and an electrically retractable duster extension Speed tested to 160 of course

Turns out that my pump is knackered.
Doesn't really bother me too much as they are pretty useless anyway. I only ever used them if someone drove behind me too close. Always seems to make em back off and clean their windscreen.
