Hi people,
just finish my engine rebuild on my ej20 turbo engine due to big end bearings going,connecting rods and crank.i replaced the mains,big ends,connecting rods and crank.i fired it up 4 the first time and it started straight away ,but now ive got this horrid sound !can any1 tell me what this is,from a example ive found on the net that sound identical to mine now.ive spent 3 months getting everything right on the engine and now this happens ,please help.

if u click on the subaru ej25 piston slap link in the original post thats what it sounds like,its like loud rattling,the person who uploaded the video is not sure either if it is piston slap.

no it still does this when the engine is at its normal temp, ive drove it around 4 a hour hopin the sound will go but no.do u reckon a rebore n over sized rings with piston's would sort it?

 

does any1 know what this could be

 

did you get all of the swarf out? sounds like you got big ends gone to me.
