any you guys got an apexi avcr boost conroller and no how to set em up at all? i got a new scooby with one on it an have not got a clue how use it ha. any tips would be apreciated

 

if it has been set up already as part of a remap etc then there should be no need to touch it..

its a new moter with lots of mods the guy said its been tuned up on the apexi fc comander. i have a reciept for just under £400 for the instilation and program of the power fc by wincanton moter services .i ran the car home the avcr was on 1.35 bar with 55% duty felt good but engine light flickers at high end of revs which is quite worrying .spoke to the previous owner again about this and he said the tuner said it was fine and to ignore it!!! i was trying to turn the boost down to 1bar but keeps peeking above ,i cant seem to mach the duty to get a good strong solid bar of boost no spike.every time i check the defi gauge its always hitting 1.2 ish even when i set the avcr at 0.5 .any thing over 1 bar seems to flicker the check engine light.is this how the power fc has been set up? cos i used to run a wrx a while back with minimal mods at just over a bar of boost all day long with no light flickering etc

 

eek.. I wouldn't go ignoring that either.. make sure you put decent fuel in it.. shell v power.

try lowering the duty.. around 1bar should be 40% give or take a bit.

Suggest you get it checked at HIS expense..

its running walbro,550 injectors,hks full decat,uppipe,downpipe,apexi induction,vf26 turbo,apexi fc,fmc,tubular equel headers.what sort of boost do u think it should be good for safely if the power fc is mapped properly? what sort of power should i be getting from these mods?

 

vf26? not used normally sure it is not a 28?.. the vf series seem happy below 1.45bar.. some push higher but depends on your situation.
That spec should see early to mid 300s at about 1.4bar depending on method of measurement etc..

yeh it could be its a vf turbo of some sort,ok you seem to be in the no.so do you no what sort of money people charge to set up a good map or whatever they do on the power fc with the mods i got.surely if it can handle the boost with the mods i got then it must be the fc not giving the right info out ie fuel etc no

 

yes, sounds like an ignition or fuelling issue, the engine light flashes due to the knock sensor picking up more noise than the threshold set when it was mapped.. if that was setup, if not then it defaults to 60.. which strikes me as weird someone would say it is fine just ignore it as the car should be checked and if all is actually fine the knock threshold increased etc..

If the engine light flickers and you've got an Apexi power Fc fitted, then the light flicking is the power FC warning you about engine damaging knock.

Too much or too little fuel.

Either way it needs to be check on a rolling road for peace of mind.

I wouldn't be happy until I got it checked out myself, dispite what the previous owner said.

 

ok ive managed to set a good solid bar of boost on the avcr now an no lights flickering.i take it as long as the light stays off ill be ok till i can get it in for maping? right i spoke to the tuner today who origonally set the apexi up he defo said nothing about just ignoring the light so the previous owner was tellin bull.the mapper said it was tuned with most of the mods .but since then i have found reciepts for headers,uppipe,downpipe dated after the map sesion,could this muck up the map they done?

 

yes definitly!

 

Jolly Green monster (simon) is a good mapper, you wont go wrong with him, and Zen Performance (Paul) is another good mapper.

Both worth there money, and there advice is top stuff.

 

ive looked at the boost settings on my fc an they start at 1.10 and high boost is 1.50 it is set on the highest .i have no reciept for the avcr but would this of had an affect to if was fitted after maping could it be conflicting with fc. where are you based jolly green anywhere near essex?

if the avcr is controlling the boost then the FC is just a fuel cut.

cool do you do sundays?would i need a full remap as it was mapped only 4 months ago could it be just tweeked?because obviously id like to sort the engine light flickering but in a few months im gonna have some cash to splash so more upgrades are on the cards an so ill nedd another remap if you no where im comin from. if not does the re-map cater for my needs on the road etc etc
