Question engine light on after decat

Hi

I got the exhaust down cat pipe on my 2002 wrx decatted, and whilst crusing down the dual the engine managment light came on.

I got my subaru dealer to reset the ecu but it came back on again.

what can I do?

Put a cat back in it ?

Seriously tho', there is a mod to shut the ecu up, search on here will find someone who's done it.

I am pretty sure you need a remap to get rid of the CEL light with a Decat (You can use a resistor for the EGT sensor). It's the downstream O2 sensor that can tell the cat (Or lack of) is not doing anything and puts the light on...

you are probably getting p0420 catalyst efficiency below threshold due to it not being there.
i think only way to stop it is for a mapper to adjust the threshold value while mapping it.

I have the same problem on my 2002 wrx (full d-cat)
I was told it needs mapping to change the tolerance of the probe
Or something like that

Whats EGT stand for?
What value resistor would I need?

Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor that's in the UP Pipe. Its a 2200 Ohm (2.2KOhm) 0.6 watt resistor you need (£0.13 from Maplin)...
