2.5 block
tempted to go with a 2.5 block just a couple of questions tho..
can i use a 2.5 legacy block and crank as i will go forge pistons and rods or does it have to be a new impreza sti 2.5
whats the best block to buy and how much hp will the crank hold.
thankyou for your help

legacy 2.5 is only okay to around 400ish.. as it is open deck..
ej257 sti 2.5 is semi closed and okay to 500ish.. some are cracking liners at that though..
Crank can hold more than the block.
Beyond that you are looking at relinering etc..
Nice thread on here about it recently.. if I can find it I'll post a link.

I think I would call one of the reputable engine people now and get all the bits you need to complete the parts list?
They will give you all the parts that are correct.
Seems to me there are about 5 people/companies that know what they really are doing reading up on here and 22B.
