Would have thought there would be no difference in the engines just the gearbox.

the early engines are basically identical apart from the turbo spec.............

Auto boxes aren't as strong, so a lower spec engine is likely.

Flywheel is probably different too.

I've just put an auto engine in to my manual WRX. The auto engine doesn't have an oil cooler. well i've never seen one on an auto anyway. Otherwise there the same.. The flywheel off the manual will go straight on aswel.

You can put the oil cooler off the manual on tho! bit of a bitch but well recomended
