gearbox troubles....
not sure whats wrong with it, so il describe the symptoms...
basically in 3rd 4th and mainly 5th gears i get a grinding sort of noise, like something is rubbing on one of the cogs under there. if i move the gear stick left/right when in 5th say, it makes the noise louder.
without knowing much about gearboxes, i envisaged it may need work eventually. can anyone shed light on this matter?? the car changes gear fine, and doesnt ever pop out, although reverse can be an **** to get into.
also, as something to try prolong the life, im gonna have a mechanic friend of mine change the gearbox fluid in the near future. what fluid to use (sorry if this is a dumbererer question) and is there an additive to use too?
if anyone can answer or shed light into the queries about what fluids/additives to use and/or what my problem may be, excellent!
car is my99 uk tuebo with 133k on the clock. assume the gearbox is original.
only this gearbox grinding and noisy tappets are spoiling my enjoyment thus far.
