Default PLEASE HELP! piston or turbo?

on my way home today and notcied a fair bit of blue smoke from the exhaust and it wasnt boosting, realy felt like no turbo power at all! so my gues was my turbo's gone?as in the last few week i have had the odd bit of blue smoke but when i got home and opened the bonnet thers alot of oil thats come from the induction kit?!is this the turbo blown or a piston melted?

Could be wrong mate, but IIRC a melted piston usually generates white smoke from the exhaust. Were there any symptoms prior to the smoke coming out?

Might pay to give David at API a ring.

hi, im guessing it would mostly likely be the turbo, if the piston had melted i doubt you would be able to use drive you car.

im sure someone will may correct me if im wrong.

It is probably the turbo that has gone from the description you have given.

Blue smoke is usually a sign of a worn turbo

Blue smoke is definatly a dead turbo,

Possibly turbo what year, millage etc Does the car run ok on idle ?

More usually piston, they fail far more often than turbos.

first of all thanks for all the reply's

forgot to say its firing on 3 cylinders and when i go to take off it feels like its realy struggling to go(juddering etc)and its very very slow

does anyone know of a good engine for sale?cant realy afford alot of money but i can lend some to get it fixed.

its a 93 K reg wrx model dont mind getting an engine standard or an engine with mods aslong as its better than the one i have now
