Default Turbo whistle

All,
my STI7 2002 54k miles has started to whistle a bit on boost - bo standard in every way....any ideas why.

Is this a bad thing?

Nope i believe this is normal. My MY00 classic has done this since ive had it

If everything else is in check and the sound is new it could imply the turbo is showing signs of wear due to excess movement in the shaft. As the turbine rotates it can come into contact with the compressor housing creating a whine/Whistle sound.
