Default decat or not

i have a wrx 1995 import

will i benifit from putting a decat pipe on? will i be ok with mot?
ive only got an sti exhaust on will this need to be upgraded aswell or will just adding the decat be enough to get that bit extra bhp

As far as I know, you should have 3 cats, so by removing one of them - the center section cat, you will get an increase in bhp and you will still pass your MOT. This is the case for my 03 WRX anyway.

Early imports only has 1 cat in the downpipe and if registered pre July 95 then you get an basic emmsions test if not go for a sports cat.
Benefits are a quicker spool up but tbh a reamp would be required to get the most out of it imo

how much am i looking at for a decat pipe then and a remap?

£550 for daughterboard (has to be soldered onto your ecu) or £800 for a replacement ecu and remap so not cheap i'm afraid (have a look here for options www.polarperformance.co.uk) or JollyGreenMonster.co.uk theses are just 2 people who can do remaps there are loads more.


Decat is about £100 depending on which 1 you but (i bought an HKS for about £110)
