Default Leaking fuel tank. How do you remove? (Pics inside...)

I have searched on here and on SIDC and nothing really seems to come up

For a while now there has been evidence of a very slight fuel leak, i.e. a tiny dribble mark down the side and onto the underneath of the tank. That had been like that for over a year, but was nothing to get exited about.

Recently I filled the tank completely full as I was due to make a long journey and when I was sorting a few exhaust issues I noticed a strong smell of petrol - turns out it was pishing all over the garage floor, and appeared to be coming from above the tank. It stopped within about 5/10 mins, and as I had a full tank, I assumed that the leaking point must be quite high up in the tank.

After a few searches, most seem to say that its almost always not the tank. I then checked all hoses at the top of the pump, which seem fine. Obviously I can't check them any further along with the tank in place as they dissapear under the car/rear seat area.

I then took the pump out, I shone a light down and thought I could see corosion around where the filler pipe enters the tank. The fuel was sitting just bellow the filler pipe, so it would seem obvious that is where the problem is. I then put more fuel in so that it was above the filler pipe, and yep, it started leaking.

I put the pump back in and drained the fuel before trying to take some pics of the offending area!

Sorry about the quality of pics, they were taken with a phone camera and as you imagine, not the easiest of places to get a picture!

So what do you think?

New tank? Can it be repaired?

If it is a new tank job, how do I remove it?

I assume drop down rear subframe, diff, and prop?

Thanks in advance for any helpfull input.

Cheers, Ali
