My MY00 PPP Classic makes a loud screech from the exhaust when put under high load. It only really does it when in 2nd or 3rd and I put my foot down. If load is applied in 4th/5th then it doesn't generally do it. It is possible to replicate the sound at a standstill by stamping on and off the throttle. The noise is coming out of the tailpipe itself. The car seems unaffected power wise and runs really well, but this noise is annoying.

What could it be?

Baffles starting to collapse in the backbox?.....try unbolting the rear box and see if the screeching noise is still there,exhaust sound will obviously be louder but might help to see if it is actually the backbox thats doing it.

 

look up the back box and see if there are baffles blocking then pipe work i had the same problem with my car looked up and it was blocked with stuff that looks like horse hair but its fibrglass so watch your eyes

 

I've looked up the tailpipe on the Prodrive backbox and all appears well as far as I can see.

I did a search on here and some people are suggesting its supposed to do it and that with the window shut you can't here the noise. This can't be right surely?

I've noticed that the noise can be quite intermittent and its quite difficult to predict exactly when its going to happen.
