can you de resonate a centre section yourself?????

as above got a de res centre on now but was wondering if you can de resonate a centre section yourself as i've got one laying around now

i was thinking of taking out one of mine , i phoned longlife they said it would cost aroung £75 to cut it out then weld in a length of 3"
