1994 wrx performance stats
Please excuse my lack of knowledge as I am a new scooby owner (and very happy with my purchase!).
I have just bought a 1994 wrx fresh import from Japan and am astounded by the performance! Having been a Lancia integrale owner for 5 years I thought that the power would be similar but I have been blown away by the difference!
Can anyone tell me what the manufacturers performance stats are for my car? It is a completely standard wrx with no modifications at all. It has not been delimited and retains the original exhaust system.
Many thanks.
Dave.

Hya,
I asked the same Question mate weeks ago, If it has the red interior its 240ps, 0-60 in 4.9secs and a top speed of 145mph.
If it has the grey interior its 260ps.
Hope this helps mark

have a look at the ecu under passenger footwell see what ecu is in it because a 1994 should be 240bhp.
the 260bhp has the z4 ecu (have a look at ecu and see what is wrote on it,there will be a sticker on it saying z4 if its 260bhp ecu )
might be an idea to undo the ecu aswell and check to see if its been chipped also check for anything else wrote on the ecu i.e jap tunners might have chipped it.(2 min job to check and may save your engine going bang although yours does sound standard as the rest of the car is standard like you said).

i dont know if the loon is any lighter but my94 uk wagon weighs 1195kg well at least thats what it says on the v5.
also we get the td05 standard so there is a slight benefit owning the earlier turbo model. all the year/reg snobs wouldnt have it though, no way would they get in a car older than a 2000 reg no way.

Kerb weight of a standard classic is 1235KG.
Remember that the quoted standard power figures are in PS not BHP. BHP is lower, not by much though.

is there a difference in weight between the pre facelift classic (92/96) and the facelift classic(96/97 onwards)because my94 uk says kerb weight is 1195kg on logbook.
and does anyone know if there is a differene between uk and import in weight classic model (pre facelift and facelift onwards).

I gave my wagon a stop watch time trial when first I had it (1993 WRX, TD04 220ps) and clocked it to 60 at about 6.5 seconds. I've since upgraded to a TD05 and ESL chip, get clutch slip off the mark but can easily go into the 5's even with a conservative start. 4.9 is optimistic for a 240ps classic imho.

Yes I think 4.9 is very optimistic for 240. My wagon, as borats, has 220bhp as standard, and the 0-60 is 6.6 secs. Thats a true realistic figure, so to get 4.9 secs from an extra 20 bhp extra seems strange to me.
........so what will the 0-60 be on my wagon now its 300bhp? ......1.9 secs? Lol

i think the 0-60 time for any car, subaru or not, seems a little optimistic to me but when doing a 0-60 time to get near them times you would have to be very un-sympathetic with the clutch etc.
i had a bmw 328 sport 200bhp (bmw quote 6.2secs 0-60)and my scooby is around 290bhp but i always thought there wasnt much difference between the two cars 0-60 having owned them both with the scooby being slightly faster.
but then i did a proper launch in the subaru ( i.e 4500/5000rpm )and oh my god then you can feel the difference between the two cars when you launch the subaru.
so i thnik if low on fuel, skeleton driver and a proper launch you could get them times quoted 0-60 but in the real world its going to be slower than 4.9s.

I've done a 'proper' launch in my impreza and it's fecking quick (god knows what i will be like with more power ).

I really do not believe that anyone has got to 60 in 4.9s in a 240ps standard classic, but I'm open to some proof. As has been said before, what would that put a 300bhp classic at? I'm pretty sure the quoted figure for UK spec classic impreza's (208bhp) is 6.6 seconds so its an awful lot of improvement to 60 for just a 15% increase in power.

and the import is quoted at 5.9s
taken from subaru faq with a full tank of juice and driver and a passanger but it also mentions that top gear got a import time of 5.2secs and performance car managed a 5.03 at santapod (very grippy) with an empty tank and no passaner.
but at the end of the day i think nearly all cars wouldnt acheive there claimed 0-60mph times all depends on driver and car sympathy to get anywhere near them in a standard car.
