Default bonnet vents

wrx 1995

you have your big scoop for the intercooler

now the other 2 smaller vents, how come they are blanked off under the bonnet ? surley they need to be open so they let air in?

where they just put on for show?

has anyone took the blanking plate off to let the air through?

cheers rafa

I have TAKEN mine off but have no idea if it makes any difference or not, it does however let the rain in!

Tests have shown that removing the covers changes the air pressure under the bonnet and has a negative effect. leave them be

they let hot air out when removed, altering the pressure in the engine bay as hot air rises, the dont let air in, the problem with them removed is that they let a lot of rain in, be wairy in winter as snow is really not good.
I had a removed the driver side louvre and custom made a heatshield to go around my induction kit and to basicly direct hot air out of the vent, which in turn saved it from the dreaded rain.
But i put it back on recently as the weathers been rubbish again.
I can honestly admit i feel a big difference when i put the cover back on.
the bonnet gets stupidly hot on the outside though, so be warned.

Hmm, I fitted a pair of skoopz as I am more of a symmetry kind of guy and fluffy had an induction kit but I have changed over to an APS cold air feed kit now and have been contemplating the bonnect back to normal, as much as I love the look currently (see view my scoob).

500, if you have a mo, do you think in my config that removing them, fitting the OE ones back on and the blankers will improve performance? I thought that the more air inlets I had coming in while on the move and for heat exiting at idle, the better lol .

Cheers,

Nick .
