I am on modding my import bugeye auto/triptronic and have fitted a full decat system and soon to get typhoon filter,then my next mod is a bigger/sti intercooler and then i was going to get a bigger turbo but was unsure which 1 to get ie-a really big one/or small one,i thought big one with loads of boost would be best with it being auto with only 4 gears(long) anyone modded a one of these before am looking to get 300bhp when mods done,which way is best,please reply andy f,

I would go with a TD04 hybrid. The auto has a torque convertor which limits the launch rpm in proportion to torque, if you fit a bigger turbo you will not create enough torque at low rpm to get a decent launch and the car will feel sluggish until it speeds up.
The TD04 hybrid spools up as early as the std turbo but has the capacity when remapped to make 300+bhp with supporting mods (decat/panel filt/ Sti intercooler or samco upgrade on WRX unit)

Thanks for the reply andy,is worth putting a sti intercooler on or did you say standard 1 with samco hoses on would be ok,will soon be fitting a sti8 bonnet scoop (for looks mainly)but wasnt to sure about bigger intercooler as it will restrict access to gearbox dipstick (auto),also will it pay to upgrade injectors (if so what size best) and i will need to fit a walbro pump is that right,any idea on price for the modded td04 turbo.

I'd go for the TD04 Hybrid too (I have one ).

When I aksed the same questions it was :

-injectors not really necessary (pity, I'd already bought them ).
-Sti Tmic - good to have ("pass" re auto)
-Walbro fuel pump - required
-decat - yup
