Re-map after a de-cat on 05 STI?
I have a Impreza STI 05, it already has a center section and back box, but I want a full de-cat, I really want thoughts on whether a re-map is really needed, the tuners that I may use say no, might just need a sensor thing to stop the ecu light come on maybe. They have done lots of this age scooby before with not problems atall.
Its just on this site everyone says you must re-map it or you'll be in trouble.
Done the searchs on here but a lot of it is for older models.
Thanks for any replies
Daz.

I will use Special Scoobies in Colchester. I do trust them as they are the specialist in these cars, just wanted to know if someone else has had the same car and same mods.
Also guessing their work will be gauranteed if the worste should happen!.

mmm, see this is what I mean , It already has a green panel filter. but I have read that Scooby Clinic have said the same thing, no re-map needed, its only an extra mod like buying the de-cat in the first place.
I can understand the reasons for the re-map, and perhaps because it will cost another £300ish more, guess that why people doubt them .
Still comes down to the question that two Subaru specialist tuners have said the same thing. decisions decisions.........
53WRX:- have you de-catted and re-mapped?
Please keep the comments coming

i was told if decatting you will need a remap, due to turbo spooling up quicker and producing more boost which will then cause fuel cut,a map will also get rid of the cel light caused by the rear lambda sensor.

I decided its not worth the outlay of the re-map and the potential lost warrenty and MOT hassle.
Mines running the PPP - so new fuel pump, one of the 2 CATs removed, high flow in the down pipe (or where ever it is) Prodeive back box.
It has already been remapped once anyways to 330bhp by previous owner.
only thing i might change is the resonator, take that off to make it a tad louder.
still MOT friendly like that though.
