Default still black smoke and wont rev

Hya,

I have now fixed my exhaust manifold gaskets and sound nice, but there is still black smoke and it gets to 2k and its like hitting a brick wall, I have checked the maf by taking the plug off when warm and the car cuts out so must be ok, lambda looks new as well.

Is it worth re-setting the ecu and how much am I looking at to get a diagnotic check will this check defo tell me the problem.

thanks mark

check for a split in the intercooler pipe to turbo, (Assuming on top mount) It is like a hard plastic and they do become brittle with age. It would give symptoms that you are having

agree with Jay... or a vacuum pipe is off or split.

I will re-examine I know that the pipe is split where the blow off valve goes on to the hard black pipe.

that will be your problem, I had the exact same thing about 18months ago, mine got so bad though that it would idle just about but would just splutter with any acceleration and run richer than the sultan of brunei

If yours is the slanty intercooler, I have the relevant pipework (turbo to intercooler with dv take off) that I got recently but didnt use (had leaking pipework on fmic so was going back to the top mount until sorted but forgot I got rid of the topmount in the scrapyard!!)
