When mine was previously mapped I had EGT's upto 930 deg, wasn't happy with that so visited Bob Rawle at BR and he added boost, timing, fuel etc etc (list of mods endless and helpful fixes to issues as always with Bob ), now EGT's around 860 max...engine smells nice, sounds sweat and doesn't "click" etc like it was cooking red hot like before.

My EGT reads on the uppipe - prob best location for a "gauge" of your EGT's. Alarm now set at 890.

I will put it in the uppipe probably.

Is it cylinder 2 which is the hottest?

So you guys would say it is save to put the warning to 890°C?

Any other experiences on this?

I also have the egt probe in the upipe. I get 550 - 770 C

But there is always the danger of it breaking apart and going into the turbo.

True but you cant put it in after the turbo as the readings will be different. I've got the larger probe 5mm I think, its more reliable but takes longer to read temp changes...
