Hi people,
Ive got a 1995 sti v2, never had any problems with it really.Came to start it yesterday and nothing it was just turning over not a hint of firing. It has done it once before a couple of months ago when hot but after alf an hour or so it was fine Any ideas/suggestions most welcome

 

check you can hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn the ignition on.

if you can hear the pump prime then most likely culprit is the crank sensor, although difficult to be sure from description.

cheers simon , cant really hear the pump prime so where do i go from there then?

 

remove the rear seat.. there is a connection there for the pump that has a tendency to fail..

also remove the cover for the pump in the boot (rear seat out to gain access or folded down if a wagon or uk etc) and see if you have voltage to it.. if you do then remove the pump.. added "how to" to my website.. in the help pages.. JollyGreenMonster.co.uk and then power the pump straight out of the car to see if it runs.. if not then time for a walbro

If it is not getting power then look at immobiliser, fuses, fuel pump relay etc..

It was indeed the plug underneath the seat playing up
