Default TSL Group N Exhaust info!

Hi, I am looking to fit a TSL Group N backbox 4" tailpipe and TSL straight through centre section (all 2.5" bore) to my impreza turbo MY99 UK car. At present my car is totally standard.
My question is do I need to get the ECU remapped or can I still expect some performance gains by the exhaust mods alone?
I have heard on other threads about resetting the ECU. What does this mean and how do you do it?
Has anyone used one of these exhaust systems and what are peoples thoughts of them, eg. manufacturing quality and performance compared to other similar systems.
Any advice is much appreciated. Many Thanks.

HEY UP MATE.
I'VE GOT A TSL GROUP 'N' BACK BOX AND CENTRE SECTION MATED TO A REVOLUTION 3" DE CAT DOWNPIPE AND IT MAKES A REAL DIFFERANCE IN PERFORMANCE AND SOUND.
THE 'FLAT FOUR BURBLE' COMES ALIVE AND I EVEN GET A BIT OF 'RASPY' SOUND IN FIRST (NOT BOY RACER/CHAV SOUND THO). IT POPS/FARTS/SPITS/POSS FLAMES (CAN'T SEE BEHIND ME!) AND THE FIT IT EXCELLENT.
I HAVEN'T RESET THE ECU OR INDEED REMAPPED IT AND THE PERFORMANCE GAINS ARE VERY NOTICABLE, ALTHOUGH IF YOU GET IT REMAPPED YOU'LL GET THE MOST OUT OF IT, AND I HAVEN'T HAD ANY RUNNING PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER.
HOPE THIS HELPS IN YOU CHOICE OF EXHAUST.
GOOD LUCK, AND HAPPY PLAYING
CARL

top quality exhaust not to noisy, a remap not required with just bbox and centre section, your ecu will "learn" the new system and should cope with better flow and you should gain around 10-15 bhp

MY MATE FITTED JUST A BACKBOX AND CENTRE SECTION AND SAID THE ONLY DIFFERANCE HE COULD TELL WAS ITS LOUDER (OBVIOUSLY). BUT WHEN HE TOOK CENTRE SECTION OFF AND SOLD IT TO ME HE REPLACED IT WITH HIS ORIGINAL EXHAUST AND SAID NOT ONLY WAS IT DRAMATICALLY QUIETER BUT DIDN'T PULL ASWELL......HIS OPINOIN, NOT MINE, BUT HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S ON ABOUT

From what I have been told:

Back box and centre section = No remap

Down pipe = remap
