Default Burble's Back

I've just put a Racebox back box on my MY06 WRX and now I'm thinking of changing the centre pipe.

The burble is back but it's not as loud as I would like (the missus doesn't want me waking the neighbours/dead up with my car but she hasn't heard it yet ) at the moment, therefore the questions are:

Would changing the centre pipe help?
Is it going to make a massive sound difference if I get one without the silencer (just like the one on Scoobyworld)?
And will any of these mods make any change in performance (I'm guessing they would but only slightly)?

Thanks for the help.

I've just had an Afterburner Vortex Backbox and the Afterburner Hi-Flow Silenced centre section and it did make the setup louder but not massively, the sound it gives off is immense, a very deep rumble.

This was fitted on my 2007 STi.

I also noticed a bit of a power increase at around 3.5K revs onwards.

It was the Afterburner Centre Section I looked at.

Did you keep the silencer on yours? It says on Scoobyworld:

Available with or without a high flow integrated performance silencer (silencer keeps cabin noise to a minimum).
Does it make a significant sound difference without the silencer?

do you lose a bit of torque by fitting aftermarket exhaust systems?

Yeah I opted for the performance silenced centre section as my setup was loud enough as it was.

Basically the silenced centre section 'beefed' up the sound that the Vortex was giving off, needless to say I really wasn't disappointed, the sound is something to behold.

Out of 10, with 10 being the loudest, my system is around a 7.5, with the straight through centre section it would maybe be a 9.

I'm guessing that would come down to the quality of the system.

I can safely say that there is no loss of power with the set up I have on MY07 STi, in fact I'd say power has increased, especially around the 3-3.5K revs mark, it went like a rocket before now it goes like a slightly faster rocket.

Did you get a centre section in the end mate? Any difference?
I'm ordering a Ninja backbox after Christmas, i'm wondering if I should spend the extra £75 and go for the deal with the centre section and panel filter too

Just noticed in 'your scoob' that you did get one.
Notice much difference?

I got the straight through pipe and it made quite a bit of difference, mainly sound wise but might have been a bit more responsive as well. If you want a few more HP's and a bit more noise get the straight through.

If you want a "slightly" quieter life go for the one with the silencer in it.

So the only reason for changing the centre section is for more noise? If so I think i'll just stick with my standard one and save £75!

Cheers mate.

The reason I was a bit confused is because of this...
Impreza Turbo 2001-2005 New Age : Impreza Turbo 2001-2005 New Age : Scoobyworld Cat-Back Package [catbacknewage] - £299.99
It's what I was interested in but it contradicts itself, it starts by saying it's de-cat then it says no cats are removed
If there's no gains by having the centre pipe apart from noise, i'll just swap the back box.

For me I just wasn't loud enough when I put my back box on - now it's just right with the center pipe.

I think there's a couple of HP's added but I reckon it's hard to tell when driving "normally".

My advice would be start with the back box and then then, if you're not happy, get the center pipe later on.
