wouldn't think there is any need for the foil, the vents on mine are blanked off with a plate aswell, taking them off probably isn't a good idea it will let rain water in,i've been thinking of someway to modify them to let heat out.

Mine has had no plates fitted on all 3 vents for a good couple of years now, I dont drive it very often in the rain but on the few occasions that I did it never caused a problem, although it does gather water around the battery & abs unit when stood in rain. I wouldnt take the big panel off from the intercooler vent if you still have the standard top mount which I dont, it may cause problems.

Thats sound deadener, probably best leaving that where it is or you'll be hearing all sorts of random noises!
