Default inlet CAIK hot by the maf, why?

Hi all, ref New age

I've got a strange thing going on just around my maf tube with a heat issue and yet I cannot see the source as such. I've got a custom 80mm MAF tube fitted with samco hoses either end which then connect to original Hyperflow tubing. The left hand samco (above the power steering unit) is nice and cool but the polished maf tube is hot as is the right hand side samco hose. The other strange this is that the hybrid turbo induction samco is cool, partly because I've just fitted tufnol spacers for the header tank and I've got heat protective sheet under the induction samco. I can see nothing touching the MAF tube or the samco and yet both are hot to touch - any ideas? Is the MAF electrically heated or something?

How sensors work - Digital CANBUS

Also any restriction in an air flow will produce heat.

Ah, so Scoobs have the heated wire which then produces a varying voltage depending on the air flowing past it. Does anyone know if this "heat" from the wire is enough to heat up a Metal MAF tube?

Sorry, not got a pic available at present but the setup is the same as the Hyperflow Cold Air kit apart from having a custom 80mm MAF tube of 120mm length instead of the standard size MAF tube. The kit is a straight tube which goes directly from the wing to the samco pre turbo hose so it runs over the top of the power steering square box and thats about it - hence reason wondering why/how heat is getting to the tube.

Yes m8, already got heat wrap on those pipes so that they cant transfer heat by touching the MAF tube. Its really odd as I could may see heat creeping up from the pre turbo samco onto the Hyperflow maf tubing but the induction samco is cool. Nothing is near the maf tube or the samco hose that connects it to the induction samco, I have some heat reflective material that I can wrap the maf tube with and then I'll run the car to see if it still gets hot - guess that will prove if the heat is from the MAF itself or from an external source...
