ScoobyECU - do I need to perform a reset?

Default ScoobyECU - do I need to perform a reset?

I've just bought a replacement W6 ECU with Scotty T's ScoobyECU chip installed, for my 1993 MY WRX 4-door. When I swap the ECU over, is it best to do a reset by following Polar Performance's ECU reset procedure (with the connecting of the wires under the steering column, etc.), or is it not necessary?

If I do have to reset, is it not easier to simply disconnect the battery overnight, or do I have to follow PP's procedure to do it correctly?

No need to reset.
The ECU learns quick enough, but as it's a complete ECU replacement with the chip inside it would of lost any stored parameters anyway.

They lose memory in less then 10 mins as I recently an ECU with a Code 45 fault, to fit a chip. And in the 5-10 mins it took it had lost the fault code from memory.

I thought that'd be the case. Just checking though, thanks.

I undrerstand, being your chip, you mapped it around ESSO SUL 97 RON? Would I protect the motor further by still using V-Power 98.6 RON, by giving it a bit more headroom with regard to potential detonation? Or is this wasting money? If so, will any decent 97 RON fuel work just as well/offer the same protection as the Esso stuff?

Any 97RON would be fine. I don't believe in mapping for 98/99ron due to it's limited availability. Although if someone is very specific they want that, I will accomodate.

Just one other thing, I am currently running NGK PFR6B spark plugs... Would it be wiser to switch to the colder NGK PFR67 to compensate for the boost increase from the std 11.47psi to the chip's increased 16.11psi limit? Or is this mod not necessary for this level of boost?

so then.. if you have had a remap and disconnected your battery would it go back to standard?

no only the learnt parameters in RAM get lost such as fault codes and fine tune adjustments i.e IAM

P.S If you have 6B's don't worry about until until they next require changing. although 7B's don't last as long as 6's

Cheers Scott. They're all but brand new anyway, as they were fitted about a month back when it had its 90k'er.

Question

...Do the 7's last long enough between plug services though, based on Subaru's recommended schedules.
