Default Clutch pedal seems dead..

Guys,

Really need some help and avice on this.

I got a 99 turbo 2000.
Recently the clutch pedal used to get stuck when i changed gears and it stayed dipped, i had to put my shoes behinde the pedal and it used to spring back up into place, this happened all of a sudden and then i got my mechanic to look at it.

My mechanis came recommened by another scoobie driver local to me and he claimed that he changed the settings on the pedal and it should all be ok.

Got the car back today and after 10 minutes of driving the same thing happened so i tried to get the car home and on the way home when the clutch pedal went down it stayed down and when i got it back up there was no spring or tension behinde it if that makes sense it just felt completely dead.

I rang the mechanic and have told him to look at it first thing in the morning but was wondering if anyone has had the same problem or can advice what it could be.

Sounds like the small spring that attatches to the clutch release arm and bellhousing has snapped or came off.
