Sloppy feeling gearstick.

Sloppy feeling gearstick.
I mentioned to a couple of people the other day about my gearstick feeling sloppy and generally un smooth. It was suggested that I check on my linkages to see if the spring is alright. Now I checked underneath today but I can't find a spring anywhere. Is this what is causing my probs. Does anybody know exactly where the spring should be? and from these pics can you tell if it is missing.
I know it's hard to tell from pics, I might just have to take it to someone who knows what there looking for.

cheers, so it looks like it's definately missing. Do u think this is something that can fall off, or just not replaced after i had my clutch replaced about 1 month ago.

Now I was hapy with the replies I had and was vertialy on my way out to get a new spring until
A lad I know who knows a fair bit about scoobs saw the pics and said he didn't think there should be a spring there but wasn't 100%.
Can somebody please clarify for me. From these pics is there a spring missing?
