98 Outback automatic shudder/slip-Help

My 98 Outback seems to slip and shudder turning corners or going straight. This is not engine or CV joints. I have heard of something called clutch packs going bad. Does this sound like it? (By the way, it seems worse since I purchased new rear tires.)
