Guys

my Scoob is out of warranty at the end of the month.

Is it worthwhile taking out an extended warranty?

Has anyone made a claim under the extended warranty?

Thanks

Sonu

Mine runs out in March so i've looked at it. I see it this way. For the limited Milage cover (upto 60000) it's about £400. This includes Subaru Assist, which is basically full RAC cover. This is about £100 a year. So if you would take out some brakedown cover once your warranty runs out this would make the warranty £100 a year over the 2 years. I think that's good value. I would value peoples opinions who have the extended warranty.

I contacted 2 dealers, asking them what was covered and each dealer gave me a different answer

I then phoned the Subaru warranty line and this is what they told me:

1) Only certain items are covered under the warranty.
2) An item will only be replaced if is proven to be broken.
3) If there is a problem with your car, the dealer will carry out an inspection on the car. If a part is deemed to be broken Subaru will pay for it if it is covered. If a covered part is not deemed broken, you will have to pay for the damage and the inspection.

Thanks

Sonu

From personal experience - do NOT bother with it if you have ANY non standard parts. Car is inspected if you have a "fault" and non std parts invalidate the warranty.
(Which is why my 98 still has slap).

I am in the same situation i have covered 56k in two years.

My dealership told me the unlimited 1yr cover is £ 385.00

couple of things
The same RAC breakdown/get you home/homestart cover for my car would be £ 100.00 so really it makes the cover £ 285.00 divide that by 52 and it is £ 5.30 a week which i do not think is bad.

I have never had any problems with warranty claims (brake disks x 2, drivers seat back, bulbs blowing, scratched O/S/F window).

I do around 30K a year so it seems like a safe bet for me. if i was just using the car for 'pleaseure' ( you know what i mean, every journey is a pleasure in the Scoob) 5-10K a year i would re-think.

BTW - Just called Westaways and set it up!

Paul
