Theres 2 main loom plugs to undo near the battery...
Rad out... air-con pump to one side...
Intercooler off, downpipe to turbo, un-done...
2 engine mount bolts underneath
Starter off, gearbox bolts out...
Thats about it... less than hour and a halfs spannering really...
Just the clutch release fork aswell...
Lift if out
That'll do you to start with... once its out come back for more...
Ta it steady, and depending on how long its off the road for rebuild... might be worth labelling bolts up etc...
Did my rebuild over 12 months, come in handy when it come to putting it back together...

As for the clutch release fork, theres a large allenkey plug type thing just behind the starter on the gearbox. Underneath this plug there is a dowel/pivot that goes through clutch fork you'll notice in the middle of it its got a threaded hole, you need to screw and M8 bolt into this with some washer on and it will slowly pull it free. Once the dowel is free you can pull the fork clear of the clutch release bearing.
If you dont do the above your gearbox will be stuck to your engine via the clutch lol
Need to disconnect and label all of the fuel lines and turbo/vac pipes. And the carbon canister at the front on the inner wing..
The engine can be a bit of a C**T to get off the box because you have to lift the engine out of the mounts to pull it free which means its all at an angle and under strain, I find its easier to jack the gearbox which will release the pressure from the inputshaft on the gearbox AND also give you a help in hand when refitting if you leave it jacked up.
Oh and make sure you invest in a 14mm ratchet spanner if you dont have one because thats the only fooking thing you'll get down between the up pipe, drive shaft and bellhousing on the drivers side bottom gearbox bolt.
And another tip, remove the bottom gearbox mounting studs from the engine when its out and before refitting put them through the bell housing holes ready. Saves lots of ball ache trying to line them up.
